When the clock strikes midnight on December 31, you can be confident that operations of the Oyster Bay Sewer District will run smoothly. District officials have taken the necessary steps to ensure that the systems that operate 24-hours a day will continue to function without a hitch. Additionally, administrative operations will not be interrupted.

"You should be reassured that we have been ready for Y2K long before the turn of the century," Oyster Bay Sewer District Commissioner Thomas D. Galasso emphasized.

He went on to explain that state and county health departments have long required the district to have auxiliary systems in place.

"Therefore, in the event of an unanticipated computer glitch, those back-up systems will kick in," Galasso said. "We are one operation that is 100 percent reliable. We expect nothing but a smooth transition into the next century."
